Master’s Programme in Sustainable Development – Utrecht University

The Sustainable Development Master’s Programme at Utrecht University is designed for students who want to work on real solutions to today’s environmental and social challenges. The two-year programme brings together perspectives from environmental sciences, governance, and social sciences, helping students understand how ecological systems, policy decisions, and societal change are connected. It prepares graduates to work across disciplines and contribute to the transition toward more sustainable and equitable societies.

Who can apply

Applicants with a background related to sustainability, environmental or natural sciences, and basic research skills (including mathematics and statistics).

Tuition fees

EU/EEA students: €2,694 per year (2026–2027).
Non-EU/EEA students: €25,306 per year.
