Sustainable Cities as a Catalyst for Tourism and Economic Resilience

The conference “Sustainable Cities as a Catalyst for Tourism and Economic Resilience” will take place on 8 May 2026 at the City Hall in Rijeka, Croatia. It will bring together representatives of the public sector, business, academia and international organisations to discuss the role of cities in shaping sustainable economic and tourism models.

Organised by the Croatian Corporate Governance and Management Association (CCGM), with the support of the European Commission Representation in Croatia, the Ministry of Tourism and Sport and the City of Rijeka, the conference will explore how cities can drive sustainable transformation and create opportunities for businesses, investors and local communities.

The programme will cover sustainable and smart city strategies, the role of circular economy in tourism and the wider economy, as well as financing models and implementation. Particular attention will be given to emerging business models, regenerative tourism and ESG integration in governance systems.

Through keynote presentations, panels and case studies, the conference will focus on practical experience, public-private collaboration and the importance of governance, transparency and long-term planning.

The event is designed for city and regional authorities, companies, investors, sustainability experts and corporate board members. For more details and registration, visit the official website
