From October 14th to 16th, the International Energy Fair and the International Fair for Environmental and Natural Resources Protection were held in Belgrade. Exhibitors showcased smart, eco-friendly solutions for both individual households and cities, including electric transport, solar panels, and advanced technologies designed to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions. The latest innovations in energy management and sustainable usage were brought together, as environmental concerns have been a long-standing priority for Serbia. Solar panels, in particular, stood out as the most popular solution, presented in five locations in various formats.

The forum brought together representatives from government, standardization bodies, academic institutions, commercial companies, and media from countries such as Serbia, China, Turkey, Germany, and Hungary, all collaborating to promote prosperity and well-being through a focus on sustainable development.

International cooperation fosters an environment where robust infrastructure, sustainable industrial growth, and advanced innovation—guided by international standards—can flourish. However, it’s also crucial to identify existing challenges. We had the opportunity to speak in detail with a representative of Hungary’s ENVECON, a company involved in developing new water purification technologies in northern Serbia. They noted that, due to a lack of funding for maintenance, the company has been unable to fully realize its potential in this field.

Overall, such events not only help connect producers and consumers but also contribute to shaping a new agenda, including addressing the challenges of implementing smart technologies for sustainable development in the region.
