JRC Summer School 2026 – Evaluation of Air, Soil and Water Pollution

The Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission is organizing the JRC Summer School 2026 focused on the evaluation of air, soil, and water pollution. The programme aims to strengthen the knowledge and skills of young researchers and students from the Western Balkans in monitoring and assessing environmental pollution. Through lectures, workshops, and practical sessions, participants will learn about scientific tools, measurement techniques, and policy approaches used to evaluate environmental quality and support sustainable decision-making.


What the programme offers

• A five-day intensive programme combining lectures, workshops, and practical exercises

• Training on methods for assessing air, soil, and water pollution

• Introduction to scientific tools used for environmental monitoring and data analysis

• Opportunities to network with experts from the European Commission and young researchers from the region

• Insight into how scientific evidence supports environmental policies and the European Green Deal

Who can apply

Master’s and PhD students, as well as early-career researchers (up to five years after graduation) from Western Balkan countries, including Serbia, who are studying or working in environmental sciences or related fields.

Participation and costs

Participation in the summer school is free of charge. However, participants are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation costs. Financial support will be provided for 10 top-ranked applicants.
