Bloomberg Green Docs Opens Call for Climate Short Films

The Bloomberg Green Docs competition has officially launched its 2025 call for submissions, inviting filmmakers from around the world to share powerful short documentaries that reflect the environmental realities of our time. The winner will receive a $25,000 grand prize, with the top five films featured at the Bloomberg Green Docs Film Festival in Seattle this July.

Eligible films must be under 10 minutes in length and address the urgency and complexity of climate change—from community-led sustainability efforts to the cascading effects of environmental degradation. Submissions are open until May 23, 2025.

Last year’s festival highlighted stories from across the globe, including Brazilian climate migration, melting glaciers in Europe, and forest preservation efforts in Tasmania. The 2024 winning film, Finding Home by Maria Stanisheva, stood out for its personal and emotional exploration of displacement caused by ecological change.

Bloomberg Green, the media platform behind the competition, continues to blend global climate journalism with storytelling and data-driven reporting. With contributions from over 2,700 journalists across 120 countries, it remains a leading voice in covering sustainability, climate policy, and green innovation.
